Dr. Matthew Wicklund
MD, FAAN, Professor of Neurology, UT Health San Antonio

Dr. Matthew Wicklund is Professor of Neurology and Vice Chair for Research at UT Health San Antonio in Texas.  He completed his undergraduate and medical degrees in Colorado, his internship at Dartmouth, his neurology residency in the United States Air Force, and his neuromuscular fellowship at The Ohio State University. His major research interest involves genetic muscle diseases.  Dr. Wicklund is author or co-author of more than 140 published articles, chapters and abstracts, and lectures at national meetings.  He has been involved in clinical care and research involving patients with neuromuscular disorders, but with an emphasis on genetic and acquired muscle disorders.  He is currently the primary investigator or site investigator on clinical trials related to the limb girdle, facioscapulohumeral, myotonic, and Duchenne muscular dystrophies.  Dr. Wicklund is director of the Muscular Dystrophy Care Center and has extensive experience providing multidisciplinary care to neuromuscular patients.
